"Perhaps the highlight of the festival itself was a secret Skimmity Hitchers gig in the family campsite of all places. The trio commanded a makeshift-stage the size of a gazebo (cos it was a gazebo), they were surrounded by an ever growing troupe of fans who soon picked up the words to the cider singalongs…I don’t like cider, oh no, I loves it (to the tune of Dreadlock Holiday by 10CC) or a hilarious play on People Are Strange by Doors, dedicated to the motley crew of cider drinkers dancing around the gazebo. They ended with a wonderful rendition or Viva Lyme Regis. This set was repeated on Sunday afternoon by the Rock The Bus Bar, which played host to Scrumpy Sunday. Bonus."

"Cheers guys best Dorset band we have had so far.
Definetly not to be missed please come back soon."
review by The Old Ship Inn, Dorchester (February 2011)
"Great gig on Saturday night at the Ship Inn, Dorchester.
Correct me if I am wrong but
I think I detected a theme around the joys (and perils) of cider drinking? Later on
in the evening the band became confident enough to explore more complex political and
socio-economic themes such as why the Badger is a symbol of Dorset folk."
review by Keith (February 2011)
"We have thoroughly enjoyed the Skimmity Hitchers in our place several times and look forward to having them back again in the future (they already have their dates for the rest of 2011). They bring with them their own brand of cider fuelled wit, humour, musicianship, theatre, as well as their devout and faithful followers. We’ve even ventured to the foreign country known as Portland especially to see them. If you know a classic song, well, be prepared for a new Scrumpy and Western version from these fellas with a twinkle in the eye and a badger under their arm. So be prepared to have a drink and a laugh for a guaranteed stonking night."

"a perfect example of what can be achieved with a dread combination of 10 pints of Thatchers and a Johnny Cash compilation. This is a compliment."

comment by Pete Smith (Number 6 Bar, Weymouth)
"Denizens of Dorset and purveyors of fine scrumpy & western, the Hitchers - successors to
the much-loved Who’s Afear’d – did not disappoint with their fusion of comical folk and humorous
renditions of popular tunes which rang out to an energetic audience soaking up the scrumpy-laden
atmosphere in the pub’s marquee.
Scrump Rock at its best!"

Tolpuddle Festival 2010
"At 5pm the Unite tent played host to a PA and a rousing performance from the newly formed The Skimmity Hitchers (risen from the ashes of Who's Afear'd who split due to musical similarities) who even prove a bigger draw than Clive The Pig for many of the children deserting the kids fields to join in singing a host of Dorset classics and the trio's own newly penned material that mainly toasts cider, piracy, rebellion and Dorset, and the highlight had to be 'Which Cider Are You On?' a song to rouse Unionists everywhere."
